Synopsis:
We are floating above the red clouds below the pale blue firmament. Thousands and thousands of strings strech from the infinity above us disappearing through the clouds below. We follow a single string through the clouds - it ends on the hand of the Kharo. The Kharo, the king of the country, is writing a farewel letter to his son Hal Tara, who will inherit the throne after him and whom he hopes will be able to achieve what he himself was unable to achieve: make peace.
The Kharo draws his sword and cuts his head string - leaving him dangling lifeless in his remaining strings. Then his brother, Nezo, steps out of the shadows and cuts the rest of the strings.
This is the opening sequence to a feature film with all characters played by marionette puppets.
Hal Tara swears vengeance and takes off on a quest to find his father’s murderer, which his uncle, Nezo, leads him to believe is their long-lasting enemy: The Zerits.
Disguised as a simple peasant Hal begins his journey into the world – a world hitherto unknown to the son of the king.
Hal is taken prisoner by the the Zerits. Sahro, the Zerit commander, wears a terrifying mask and Hal is determined to seek his vengeance on him. But he is nowhere to be seen. In the camp Hal falls in love with a beautiful woman. In the morning he sneaks after her only to discover the terrifying truth: the woman he loves is Sahro! The murderer of his father.
Hal escapes. In love, hateful and confused he collapses in the dessert. Here he’s captured by his own people’s slavedrivers. They fail to recognise him is his disguise as a peasant and he is brought to the slave ship.
In captivity he comes to realise the truth. The enemy is not who he thought it was. The enemy is himself.
Meanwhile the Hebalon troups are heading towards the Zerits and Hal must escape in time to rescue the people he grew up hating. And save the woman he loves; a love that has tought him that all life is connected.
